Cheersquad Records & Tapes are excited to announce the release of ‘Skipty Doo’, the first single of the forthcoming second album from Melbourne cosmic folk artist Zoë Fox.

Melbourne-based singer and multi-instrumental Zoë Fox (and her band the Rocket Clocks) released the rebellious intergalactic debut album Clockwerks in 2020. She followed it with her hypnotic cover of the 80s Simple Minds classic ‘Don’t You (Forget About Me)’, and the 2023 single ‘Flirting With Aliens’, which was spawned from an illegal picnic in Melbourne’s eastern greenery.

Over the last decade, Fox has appeared at Falls Festival, NYE on the Hill and performed internationally – garnering widespread praise and reviews describing her music as “Syd Barrett goes to the disco,” “Modern Blondie,” and “Mary Poppins on acid”.

Now, after years of steering psych-pop space-rock through the cosmos, Fox returns to Earth in 2026 with her forthcoming second album, on Cheersquad Records & Tapes. A stunning descent into the world of freak-folk, the album was inspired by the quiet, enchanting magic of Vashti Bunyan and Nick Drake.

The whimsical first single, ‘Skipty Doo’, blends earthy, acoustic nostalgia and cosmic wonder. Wide-eyed and dreamy, Fox’s acoustic guitar and lilting, hypnotic voice are beautifully augmented with piano, strings, and flute.

There’s an intimate quality to the song, Fox letting us eavesdrop on her thoughts and musings as she sings “I don’t always know what to do with my days.” In discussing the song she describes it as being “for the night owls, train lovers, pixies and procrastinators. It’s for anyone who has ever stared at a blank page, run out of things to say, or happily la-di-da’d their entire day away until the moon comes up.”

The brilliant video clip for the song was created by Nick Senior and Fox and finds her shrunk down to pixie-size and lost inside a miniature model train set.
