A FEW WORDS
Cheersquad Records & Tapes and Desert Highways are proud to present the new album from the revamped incarnation of Link Meanie’s DIY pop project Bagful of Beez.
‘In Parallax’ is out 25 September 2026. It will be available on limited edition orange 12″ vinyl (100 only), black 12″ vinyl and digital formats and is available to pre-order now.
The album and its singles, ‘Keep Up With The Joneses’, ‘Odd Couple’ and ‘Fever Dream’, follow Bagful of Beez’ 2021 album ‘Do Androids Dream of Electric Beatles’ which was recorded by Link as as solo DIY project. The new recordings capture the band as a real band for the first time. (For those who missed out on ‘Do Androids Dream of Electric Beatles’ first time round, it’s now available at a special reduced price to anyone who pre-orders the new album via Bandcamp.)
Link explains the changes: “Bagful of Beez is now a full band, so no more glitching backing tracks and more band members which is handy for gang fights.”
Indeed, it was most likely the glitching backing tracks that brought Bagful of Beez undone originally, when it was just a Link solo thing. Even when he first brought Matt into play drums, there were still backing tracks, and they still screwed up. Now it’s a full band – Matt Cotter (Even), Meghan Maike (Meghan Maike and the Cactus Flowers) and Chip Wardale (Snapshot, Rat Kangaroo and more) – and Link couldn’t be happier.
As for the music, it’s still the super-smart, catchy and colourful pop that Link has been making for years.
“Link is the Dr Seuss of music. Bending the beautiful, bizarre and brilliant around each other in creations I’m perennially in awe of” – Tim Rogers
