A FEW WORDS

Having formed in 1985, and with two previous line ups behind them, The Hollowmen were ready to record with their latest and most refined iteration. Gina Hearnden had joined Mal Stanley and Billy Baxter on vocals to establish an intuitive and intoxicating harmonic blend.

Drummer Archie Cuthbertson and bassist John Drayton were and are the equal of any rhythm section, anywhere.

Buoyed by new material and a refreshed attitude, the band recorded what was to become their most successful and immediate release – ‘So Long’.

Critics responded with favour, and fans with fervour, with The Hollowmen filling shows to capacity.

‘So Long’ proved apocryphal.

The band would break up in 1991 leaving the stage after a mammoth 3 hour sold out show at The Club.

Cheersquad Records & Tapes are proud to release the reissue of ‘So Long’ remastered by Mal Stanley at Messy Hovel 2025. It is available on limited edition burnt orange 12″ vinyl (100 only), black 12″ vinyl and digitally.
